| Just the 11th coach in the 79 year history of wrestling at Mercersburg, Nate Jacklin'96 quickly established himself as a notable addition to that select group last season, guiding the Storm to a runnerup team finish in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League and producing five state placewinners and a National Prep placewinner. After completing his Masters degree at Columbia University and serving stints as an assistant coach in Connecticut, Jacklin began his head coaching career at North Stafford High School in Virginia. He then guided neighboring Mountain View High School for three seasons before returning to his alma mater last year. Jacklin's five seasons in the Virginia high school ranks produced six Virginia Class AAA state placewinners, 13 state qualifiers, and 30 wrestlers who earned All-Academic honors. His 2007 squad finished second in the Commonwealth District and the Northwest Region championships, accomplishments that earned Mountain View a top ten ranking in the Washington Post newspaper metro ratings. Jacklin first came to Mercersburg in 1995-96, from Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He was a two-sport captain and prefect in the dormitories during his postgraduate year, and earned the first Coaches' Leadership Award in wrestling. The 119 pounder helped lead the Storm to an 18-1 dual meet record, three regular season tournament titles, the Mid-Atlantic Conference team championship, and a top twenty finish at the National Prep Tournament. The lightweight's performance during his PG campaign garnered the attention of Columbia. Jacklin was named the Lions' rookie of the year as a freshman and was a stalwart for three seasons in the Columbia lineup, while completing an undergraduate degree in Finance. Coach Jacklin teaches AP Economics and World History. He lives in Fowle Hall dormitory with his wife Lindsay and their daughter Hailey. |
